On Friday, October 26, 2018, our offices held a dress-down day to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Employee donations enabled a dress down wardrobe, but we had fun with the pink colors.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor, Janelle Hail. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34. At the time of her diagnosis, there was little information about the disease, and she was forced to make a decision about her health with few options. After her treatment, Janelle made a commitment to help women around the world by educating them about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.
The NBCF website has loads of useful, actionable information about breast cancer, such as words of wisdom on early detection, symptoms and signs, how to perform a breast self-exam, clinical breast exams, mammograms, and healthy habits that can help prevent breast cancer. Their blog also contains touching and informative stories from real people.
