We are pleased that Courtney Menjivar is a nominee as an At-Large Director for the 2021-22 Board of Directors for the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT). The election for ACT’s Board closes on Friday, September 18, 2020.
Courtney is a longstanding Principal on the Wells + Associates leadership team and is a veteran professional focusing on transportation demand management, shared mobility, and transportation market research for commuters, tenants, properties, developers, and others in the commercial real estate sector.
Association for Commuter Transportation
ACT is an international association and advocate for commuter transportation and transportation demand management (TDM). Diversifying commute methods improves the world by contributing to energy independence, better air quality, livability, mobility, and reduced congestion. Through its activities, ACT strives to improve the lives of commuters, communities, and economic growth. The ACT Board of Directors includes four officers and 12 At-Large Directors who have ultimate responsibility for determining and achieving the strategic vision of the organization.
ACT provides thought leadership on improved commuting. For example, our firm appreciated the work ACT did in May in publishing Supporting Commuters Returning to Worksites During Covid-19 – a collection of recommendations to inform employers, commuters, and communities on how we can all get back to the workplace safely and efficiently.
Courtney is one of many committed transportation professionals who are Board candidates this year. A member of ACT’s Chesapeake Chapter for nearly two decades, she is excited to more deeply support ACT’s mission through her candidacy which we wholeheartedly support.
We encourage ACT members to learn about the candidates and cast their vote here.
One thing we have valued in Courtney over the years is her professional experience and perspective from working in three countries – Canada, Australia, and the United States. With her work in transportation demand management, shared mobility, and market research, she brings to our team and to our clients a forward-thinking perspective to transportation and mobility challenges.
For example, Courtney has:
- Conceptualized and implemented multimodal transportation programs for both established and growth-stage technology companies undergoing major office relocations,
- Designed and implemented comprehensive communications, wayfinding, and marketing programs for major transit-oriented, mixed-use communities undergoing redevelopment, and
- Improved the marketability and tenant experience at new mixed-use developments by improving access and providing more transportation choices.
Perhaps what we appreciate most is Courtney’s spirit of giving back to those around her and her community. We believe this is at the heart of her candidacy for ACT’s Board of Directors. As she stated:
“I am forever grateful for the opportunity to serve on ACT’s Board as I am the professional I am today because of ACT. ACT is where I gave my first presentation, served on my first conference committee, was recognized as a recipient of the first 40 under 40 award “class,” judged my first conference abstracts/awards submissions, and ultimately learned how to be open to possibilities.
I believe that my current experience rooted in the commercial real estate sector and my membership in the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network can support the association by expanding the reach of ACT in the private real estate sector and cultivate ideation and relationships with developers, architects, and property managers focused on site connectivity and accessibility as well as tenant engagement.
I see opportunities for ACT to lead private sector mobility training, market research collaboration, site-based travel behavior technology, continued thought leadership and membership growth. As an At-Large Director, I will commit to focusing my energy and efforts on improving the lives of commuters, the livability of communities and the economic growth of business by leveraging my experience, network and passion.”
Best wishes to Courtney and all the candidates!
