A number of our Wells + Associates team members gathered in late January to participate in Helping Hungry Kids (HHK) of Northern Virginia’s monthly food drive.
HHK was co-founded by Sandy Amato and Connie Laurent-Roy in July, 2009 in order to provide food packages to school children in Northern Virginia who lack adequate food on weekends when school is not in session.
It’s important to note that Helping Hungry Kids is a 100% volunteer organization, with 98% of donations of food, funds, space, and office supplies going towards providing for local children in need. All donations to HHK are tax deductible. The organization is a fiscally sponsored program of United Charitable, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
How can you help? HHK states it quite clearly:
Volunteer opportunities are plentiful and include participating in our weekly packing sessions or our food drives at local stores on the 3rd Saturday of each month; sponsoring a pancake breakfast or hosting a benefit event; holding office, church or other organization food drives; contributing monetarily or by providing a direct service such as website design or technical support.
Our team members enjoyed getting out on the weekend to support this important cause, but if you feel that you can’t afford the time to join one of HHK’s monthly food drives, HHK also accepts donations online.
